MELLOR ARCHAEOLOGICAL TRUST
Mellor Archaeological Trust (MAT) is responsable for revealing the foundations, cellars, tunnels and water wheel pits of Mellor Mill, a cotton spinning mill built 1790-92, and presenting them as a small country park with an Industrial Heritage theme.
MAT invites volunteers to take part in this Industrial Archaeology Dig during the period 1 st – 20 th June 2014. Volunteering at the dig is
free and open to anyone over the age of 18 years.
This will be an exciting opportunity for volunteers with some archaeological experience to hone their skills and add new ones. If you don’t have any previous experience you will receive training in the skills you need from qualified and experienced archaeologist. Of course, it is also a great opportunity to improve your English language and meet with others who also enjoy archaeology. All equipment will be provided leaving you free to turn up in suitable clothing, strong footwear, a pair
of gardening gloves and your lunch/drinks.
